New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is coming off a second place finish in National League MVP voting. Trailing only Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani for that award in 2024, Lindor put together another impressive season in his fourth campaign with the Mets.
Entering Monday’s game against the Miami Marlins, Lindor had appeared in 606 games for the Mets, posting a 121 OPS+ that narrowly beats out the 118 OPS+ he recorded in six seasons with Cleveland.
A four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award winner, Lindor is one of the best infielders of his era, and reached another historic milestone on Monday.
With his third hit of the game, Lindor lined a single to left field for his 1,500th career hit. Halfway to the 3,000 mark, the switch-hitting shortstop received a congratulatory message from the Mets who reacted to this historic news.
“Congrats to @Lindor12BC for recording his 1,500 career hit,” the team posted on X with a special graphic for the major achievement.

Lindor is 24th among active MLB hitters in hits, narrowly trailing his former teammate Jose Ramirez (1,508) of the Cleveland Guardians. A four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Lindor has been one of baseball’s best players since his rise to stardom in Cleveland.
Lindor led New York to the National League Championship series last season, and is looking to advance further this year after falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers. After his third hit on Monday, Lindor raised his batting average to .250 on the season.
