Roger Clemens Reacts To Pre-Game Moment With Kody Clemens

Roger Clemens witnesses son Kody Clemens' first playoff hit, RBI with the Phillies in NLDS
Roger Clemens is widely considered to be the greatest pitcher that has yet to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner has been on hand at the New York Yankees Spring Training, serving as a guest instructor.

‘The Rocket’ was able to take part in a unique pre-game moment ahead of the Yankees matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. The 11-time All-Star and his son, Kody Clemens, who serves as a utility player for the Phillies, met at home plate to exchange the game’s lineup cards.

The elder Clemens took to X after the game to react to the unique moment, tweeting:

“Don’t know if it was a first time event that a Father / Son exchanged line up cards or not. But I can tell you that it sure was a treat for “The Rocket” doing that with the Kid! Thanks again to “Boonie” (Aaron Boone) and “Topper” (Rob Thomson) for making it happen! @Phillies @Yankees”

The Clemens’ were the second father-son duo to exchange lineup cards in the past four seasons. They join then-Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker and Washington Nationals prospect Darren Baker, who did the same in Spring Training in 2022.

Kody went 1-2 with a run scored on the day, however, Roger’s Yankees won 12-3. The younger Clemens is hitting .333 with one home run, three RBI, and a .933 OPS this spring as he competes for a spot on the Phillies’ Opening Day roster.
