Green Bay Packers quarterback and former Aaron Rodgers mentee Jordan Love is excited to play against his friend when they come to Pittsburgh this year to face the Steelers.

Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee caught up with Love to discuss Rodgers’ recent decision to come to Pittsburgh, and Love is not surprised Rodgers made the decision, but it makes the Week 8 game on Sunday Night Football even bigger.

“I was excited for A-Rod,” Love said. “I don’t feel like I was too surprised. There were a lot of rumors going on the whole offseason about him going to the Steelers. I was excited for him that he was going to keep playing. It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be awesome. I’m excited for it. I can’t wait to be on different sides meeting up and I know we’ll talk pregame and things like that and hopefully we can exchange jerseys after.”

Rodgers helped mentor Love when the Packers selected him in the first round out of Utah State. By doing so, Rodgers helped the Packers find their next franchise signal-caller, just like they did when they picked him and Brett Favre became his mentor.

Rodgers had 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in 2024. He went just 5-12 in his starts with the Jets, and even after they acquired All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, went just 3-8. It was a tough season for Rodgers, who also had multiple leg injuries.

The Steelers think something remains in the tank for the former four-time MVP. They zeroed in on him as their target, as a result, especially after missing on re-signing Justin Fields.

Now, Rodgers will be with the Steelers on a deal that will not break the bank, and could still land them another wide receiver to help Rodgers.
