Infielder Sam Antonacci, 21, finds himself at No. 43 in our rankings. The White Sox picked Antonacci in the fifth round of the 2024 draft. Antonacci is a native of Springfield, and he attended Coastal Carolina University before being drafted.

At Coastal Carolina, Antonacci posted impressive numbers across 61 games in 2024. A slash line of .367/.523/.504 was enough to get the White Sox’s attention. The early returns have been positive for the young infielder, who has plenty of momentum to build on heading into the 2025 season. Power is not a big part of Antonacci’s game, but it does not have to be, as he has plenty of other tools to help a team win.

Antonacci has only played 23 games of professional baseball, but his numbers were quite strong in that brief sample size. Antonacci displayed an excellent ability to get on base, posting a .471 OBP en route to a 173 wRC+.

So far, Antonacci’s positioning in the field has been split approximately equally between 2B and 3B, with a bit more time being spent at 2B. There is no clear indication yet in terms of which position Antonacci would be a better fit for. However, if his ability to put the bat on the ball continues on this trajectory, he will earn promotions throughout the system, regardless of positioning. Given his age and strong (though short) start as a pro in 2024, Antonacci will either break camp with Winston-Salem or arrive there shortly.
