BREAKING: Brian Daboll Makes Ironic Point After Patriots Grab No. 1 Draft Spot

The Giants halted their longstanding losing streak Sunday, but it came at a great cost.

New York, which had lost 10 straight games entering Week 17, outlasted Indianapolis in a 45-33 win at MetLife Stadium. It was a shocking verdict, as the G-Men previously hadn’t scored more than 29 points in a game this season and the Colts needed a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The win largely was driven by quarterback Drew Lock, who received a shoutout from head coach Brian Daboll after the game.

“If you get good quarterback play, you have an opportunity in every game,” Daboll told reporters.

The Giants will hope to receive good quarterback play from whichever signal-caller they draft next spring, but in wake of Sunday’s decision, New York might not be able to land the QB it covets the most in the 2025 draft class.

That’s because the Patriots, losers of six straight, now hold the No.1 overall pick. New England obviously won’t take a quarterback with that selection, but it very well could trade the pick to a team that desperately needs one.

In fact, with draft capital of the essence in Foxboro, Mass., that’s probably what the Patriots should do if they stay in that slot.

Of course, none of this means New York won’t land a great quarterback next spring. But it would be a tough pill to swallow for Giants fans if a journeyman QB’s uncharacteristically great performance prevented New York from drafting the best signal-caller in the 2025 class.
