The Green Bay Packers have a young and ascending roster, but have been heading in the wrong direction the past two seasons.

After taking the San Francisco 49ers to the brink in the NFC Championship Game in 2023, the Packers fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles in the NFC Wild Card back in January, and it might be time for head coach Matt LaFleur and quarterback Jordan Love to prove they are capable of taking the next step.

As the 2025 season approaches, there’s a belief among some that the Packers don’t even belong in the Super Bowl conversation.

Over at Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Mo Moten lists the Packers as the team facing the eighth-most pressure to win the Super Bowl this season.

“Green Bay signed Love to a four-year, $220 million extension last offseason,” Moten writes for B/R. “The Packers have won 67 percent of their regular-season games in six years under head coach Matt LaFleur. Yet the team seems like it’s a tier below the NFL’s elite clubs.

“Green Bay has a winning head coach, its franchise quarterback, an offense loaded with playmakers and a defense that ranked within the top six in scoring and total yards last year. If the Packers don’t make a playoff run in 2025, they will be one of the league’s biggest underachievers.”

The pressure facing the Packers stems from Love seemingly underachieving last season despite being paid as one of the premier quarterbacks across the NFL.

However, given the youth that’s scattered across the roster in Green Bay, and the fact that the NFC North might be the most competitive division in the sport, placing any sort of Super Bowl or bust expectations on the franchise may be a bit premature.

However, after how the 2024 season ended, the Packers will need to show progress in 2025 to reaffirm the belief that this core is on the cusp of delivering a Lombardi.
