Friday Cheese Curds: Summer break doesn’t mean players can slack off

There’s truly no offseason in the NFL. The closest thing that there is to an actual offseason has finally arrived for the Green Bay Packers in the form of a five-week break between minicamp and training camp. But head coach Matt LaFleur made it clear that his players still have individual responsibilities while they are not in the team facility.

Thursday marked the final practice of minicamp and therefore the end of spring practices, meaning that the team was dismissed until mid-July when they will report for training camp. Still, each player will need to put in his own work, ranging from studying the playbook to going over mental reps to keeping themselves in football shape. And of course, all of that goes along with staying out of trouble.

The Packers thankfully have had minimal off-the-field drama of late, and aside from the Jaire Alexander situation, there has been little to worry about on the personnel front as well. At least they aren’t dealing with a holdout from their top rookie draft pick like one NFL team!

Here’s where things stand with the Packers as the summer break kicks off.
