IT’S A PUNISHMENT: Lions Make Decision On Fan That Had Altercation With Packers Coach

Lions Make Decision On Fan That Had Altercation With Packers Coach

Last Thursday, the Detroit Lions hosted the Green Bay Packers in a spirited NFC North battle, and they overcame a second-half deficit to come away with a 34-31 victory.

Just before kickoff, a fan at Ford Field got into an altercation with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, and the two had to be separated.

The Lions organization responded to the incident by revoking the fan’s season tickets, and he was notified of the decision in an email.

“At this time, your season tickets have been revoked and your eligibility to become a Lions Loyal Member has been suspended indefinitely,” the correspondence said.

There are times when team officials are lax when it comes to one of that team’s fans harassing a member of an opposing team, but this time, the Lions organization decided to restore some decorum and take swift action.

After going 12-5 and getting to the brink of the NFC Championship Game last season, Detroit is having something of a dream year, and it is one virtually none of their fans have ever experienced.

The team is tied for the NFL’s best record at 12-1, and a growing number of people feel it is poised to come away with the Vince Lombardi Trophy this winter.

While the Lions won four NFL championships in 1935, 1952, 1953 and 1957, they have never played in a Super Bowl, let alone won one, and for most of the last 30 years, they have been something of a laughingstock.

But that long stretch of ineptitude ended last year, and this amazing turnaround could soon culminate in the team winning it all, which would be a soul-satisfying accomplishment for long-suffering Detroit sports fans.
