“It’s A Matter Of When”: Dallas Cowboys Need To Sign Micah Parsons To Extension Despite Trade Rumors (Report) – Gridiron Heroics

Dallas Cowboys defensive star Micah Parsons will be entering the final year of his contract in 2025. They picked up his club-option.

Parsons is 26 years old, and he is looking to get paid big-time money. Parsons is looking to get the same kind of money that Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is getting. Dallas has already locked up wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott to long-term deals. Can Parsons get a long-term deal done with the team or will Dallas have to trade him elsewhere?

CBS Sports Thinks That the Dallas Cowboys Will Need To Give Micah Parsons a Contract Extension

For the 2025 NFL season, Parsons will be making around $24 million. He will want more money per season after the 2025 NFL season with Dallas. CBS sports writer Tyler Sullivan has one candidate for each NFL team about which player should receive a contract extension. To no surprise, Parsons is the one candidate on the Cowboys roster to most likely receive a contract extension. Sullivan said,

“It’s a matter of when rather than if the Cowboys will hand Parsons a contract extension. When they do, it’ll in all likelihood make the Dallas pass rusher the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. Since coming into the league, Parsons has registered at least 12 sacks in all four of his seasons. He’s also been named an All-Pro in three of his four seasons and to the Pro Bowl every year. Parsons should eye a contract that exceeds Ja’Marr Chase’s $40.25 million in AAV. “

During the 2024 season with Dallas, he recorded 43 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. Parsons is the most important defensive player on Dallas’s roster. Owner Jerry Jones let Demarcus Lawrence walk in free agency to the Seattle Seahawks last offseason. What Dallas can not do is trade Parsons or let him walk in free agency and Dallas needs to give him a contract extension before the 2025 NFL season begins.
