REPORT: Packers Pre-OTAs 53-Man Roster Projection…

The Green Bay Packers’ offseason schedule has a few important dates coming up. First are OTAs, which will occur between May 27 and June 5. Then, the team will wrap up its offseason program with a mandatory minicamp from June 10 to 12.

“There’s going to be some very competitive battles,” Matt LaFleur said after the 2025 NFL Draft. “I think it will help push us and bring the best out of everybody. We have rookie minicamp coming up, and we’re going to approach it a bit differently this year in terms of getting the rookies acclimated to our environment and how we do things. It’s going to be less on the field, more in the classroom, more walkthroughs — just preparing them for what’s to come when they return for Phase 2.”

Phase 2 of the offseason starts Tuesday as the Packers kick off OTAs. With LaFleur hinting at “very competitive battles” after the draft, it is a good time to dive into an early 53-man roster projection ahead of the action.

Quarterbacks (2):

Jordan Love, Malik Willis

There shouldn’t be any mystery here. Jordan Love is the franchise quarterback, and Malik Willis has shown he can be a highly efficient backup. The Packers might keep Sean Clifford or Taylor Elgersma as a third-string option. Still, there’s little reason to burn an extra roster spot, especially with the emergency quarterback rule allowing teams to carry a third QB without counting against the 53.

Running backs (3):

Josh Jacobs, MarShawn Lloyd, Chris Brooks

Josh Jacobs and MarShawn Lloyd feel like safe bets to make the roster. The real competition starts with the third spot, where Chris Brooks, Emanuel Wilson, Jalen White, and Amar Johnson will all be battling for a place. Right now, I’d give Brooks the edge. He’s the most reliable pass blocker of the group, and that could go a long way in earning him a spot.

Wide Receivers (7):

Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, Mecole Hardman, Bo Melton

PUP List: Christian Watson

Tight Ends (3):

Tucker Kraft, Luke Musgrave, Ben Sims

Tucker Kraft will be Green Bay’s No. 1 tight end option, but don’t overlook Luke Musgrave and his deep-threat ability. If he can stay healthy, Packers fans should expect to see a lot of 12-personnel this season. The battle for the third-string tight end spot will come down to Ben Sims and John Fitzpatrick. I’ll give the edge to Sims.

Offensive Line (10):

Zach Tom, Rasheed Walker, Elgton Jenkins, Aaron Banks, Sean Rhyan, Jordan Morgan, Anthony Belton, Kadeem Telfort, Jacob Monk, John Williams, Travis Glover

Green Bay’s starting offensive line will feature Zach Tom and Rasheed Walker at tackle, Elgton Jenkins at center, and Aaron Banks at left guard. Sean Rhyan will likely be the starting right guard, though he could face competition from Jordan Morgan.

Morgan will also get an opportunity to battle for the left tackle job. Still, Walker has done a commendable job as Love’s blindside protector, and I don’t expect the Packers to move him. Meanwhile, Glover, Monk, Belton, and Williams offer versatility and depth in case injuries pile up.

Defensive Line (10):

Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, Nazir Stackhouse, Karl Brooks, Warren Brinson, Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, Collin Oliver, Barryn Sorrell, Brenton Cox Jr.

This is the group I could see changing the most by the time the regular season starts. I left out Colby Wooden and Kingsley Enagbare, but both have a realistic shot at making the 53.

Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, Craig Oliver, and Barryn Sorrell should all be on the roster. I think the Packers like what they have in Brenton Cox Jr., and I’m hoping Cheeseheads Brazil legend Karl Brooks keeps his spot.

As for Warren Brinson, he’ll likely step into T.J. Slaton’s old role as a run-stopping presence. Nazir Stackhouse is my pick to continue Green Bay’s two-decade streak of at least one undrafted free agent making the final roster.

Linebackers (5):

Quay Walker, Edgerrin Cooper, Ty’Ron Hopper, Isaiah Simmons, Isaiah McDuffie

The off-ball linebacker group has the least expected competition heading into OTAs. The Packers have seven players in the room, and I left out Kristian Welch and Jamon Dumas-Johnson.

That said, Johnson is an outstanding athlete and could be a candidate to keep Green Bay’s undrafted free-agent streak alive. Still, there shouldn’t be much mystery surrounding this group. Barring injury, the core roles seem pretty well set.

Defensive Backs (10):

Jaire Alexander, Keisean Nixon, Nate Hobbs, Carrington Valentine, Kalen King, Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams, Javon Bullard, Zayne Anderson, Kitan Oladapo

Jaire Alexander and the Packers are reportedly negotiating a revised deal to bring him back to the team. Beyond that, I’d imagine every other member of this list makes the cut.

Micah Robinson and Gregory Junior should get opportunities to showcase their talent during camp, but the Packers seem optimistic about Kalen King’s development. If he puts together a productive camp, he should lock down the fifth cornerback spot.

Special Teams (3):

Brandon McManus, Daniel Whelan

Brandon McManus and Daniel Whelan have brought much-needed stability to special teams. However, the Packers might look to bring in some competition for Matt Orzech at long snapper.
