Dallas Already Making a Big Impression on Cowboys Rookie WR

Feb 28, 2025; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Oregon wideout Traeshon Holden (WO19) answers questions at a press conference during the 2025 NFL Combine at Indiana Convention Center.

Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Traeshon Holden is looking to make the team’s 53-man roster after going undrafted following the 2025 NFL Draft. Holden has an uphill climb as Dallas’ wide receiver room is loaded, especially after the acquisition of George Pickens.

That said, the rookie wide receiver is taking the time to get used to his new surroundings and is already enjoying what Dallas has to offer. Holden posted on Twitter Monday, “Dallas might have the best food I ever had.”

A Twitter user named Geaux Ducks (@GeauxDuck) responded to Holden’s tweet, saying that going from Eugene, Oregon, to Dallas is probably crazy. The rookie receiver responded with, “Oh you already know” with a laughing emoji.

Holden finished his collegiate career at the University of Oregon after spending the first three years at the University of Alabama. In two seasons with the Ducks, the 6-foot-2 wide receiver had a chance to play with Bo Nix in 2023 and Dillon Gabriel in 2024.

Holden had 82 receptions for 1,170 yards and 11 touchdowns in 27 games. Last season, he had his best year of college football, racking up 45 receptions for 718 yards and five touchdowns. In his first year with the Ducks, Holden scored six receiving touchdowns (career-high).

Despite not running a great 40-yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine (4.57), Holden still has good athleticism and will go up and attack the ball, even if it means sacrificing himself.

The Cowboys’ first three receiver spots are likely set with Lamb, Pickens, and Jalen Tolbert, who played well last year with extended playing time. We also can’t forget about KaVontae Turpin as well.

Therefore, it leaves two wide receiver spots for Holden and the other guys on the roster. If he plays well in the preseason and practices well in OTAs and training camp, Holden will be able to enjoy the Dallas food scene more often.
