The status of Jaire Alexander is uncertain before the Green Bay Packers begin voluntary practices for OTAs this week. The Packers wanted their star cornerback to take a pay decrease this offseason after appearing in only 34 games since 2021.
The two-time All-Pro would appear to rather keep his salary and dare the Packers to cut him.
During an appearance on “Up & Adams” this week, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Alexander was “snake bit” by injuries. He hopes Green Bay has a resolution in the near future.
“Ja is a great player,” LaFleur said of Alexander. “Unfortunately, he’s been kind of snake bit the last couple of years, and he’s missed a lot of time, and so it’s hard to play up to your potential when you’re not on the grass… I think that’s just something that we’re working through, and you know, hopefully we’ll have some resolution sooner than later.”
General manager Brian Gutekunst said earlier this offseason that Green Bay would prefer to trade Alexander rather than cut the cornerback. The Packers believe they deserve to receive something significant in return for the investment they made in the two-time Pro Bowl athlete.
Three teams could be in the sweepstakes for Alexander this summer.
Three trade suitors for the Green Bay Packers

Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders are in the trade market for a cornerback. They’re “engaged” with the Miami Dolphins for veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
“ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Dolphins are engaged with multiple teams on a Jalen Ramsey trade with nothing imminent,” wrote Davic Furones of the Miami Sun-Sentinel. “Fowler named the L.A. Rams, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Commanders as potential suitors.”
Will the Packers or Alexander budge to make a deal happen?

If the Rams, Cowboys, and Commanders are interested in a 30-year-old Ramsey (who suffered a torn meniscus in 2023), one would assume those teams would be interested in engaging the Packers for Alexander.
Alexander has been against the idea of cutting his salary to make it easier to land with another team this offseason. Would he be convinced to agree to another deal if he ended up with a contender like the Rams, Cowboys, or Commanders?
