Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has become one of the biggest stars in the sports world since his romance with pop megastar Taylor Swift began and while he remains the same person, there are some conversations he is not willing to have.
Travis Kelce was already a big name a few years ago, holding multiple Super Bowls to his name and the resumé of a future Hall of Fame tight end. His continued success on the gridiron has built upon that foundation.
But his romantic life has brought him into a new tier of celebrity. Kelce has struck a relationship with pop music sensation Taylor Swift.
For two NFL seasons now, Kelce’s relationship with Swift has factored into the Kansas City Chiefs’ conversation and the coverage on the team. On most broadcasts, a camera will find her cheering on her beau from a suite in Arrowhead Stadium or elsewhere on the road.
Despite the perks of this romance, there may also be some downsides, namely from people asking for favors. Kelce has not delved much into that publicly, but reading into his former teammate, ex Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has one request he will not make of Kelce.
During an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Smith admitted his discomfort in asking Kelce for concert tickets.
“I haven’t hit him up on that,” Smith said. “Nor do I ever expect to. He’s got enough people, I’m sure, bringing that up to him.”
Swift just finished her Era’s Tour, so both she and Kelce are enjoying a little time away from the spotlight. Nonetheless, Smith does not want his relationship with Kelce to become anything of a transactional nature.
“Again, these are special relationships,” Smith added. “And to go ask for a handout…from his girlfriend? It’s just not my thing.”
From other teammates and potentially close friends, it’s likely one of the favors the Chiefs’ star deals with behind the scenes. By now, he may just be used to it.
Nonetheless, the couple clearly see past those matters as their relationship is still going strong. While Swift continues to dominate the music business, Kelce gears up for what will be his final season on the football field in 2025.
