Micah Parsons Signing Contract Prediction Issued by Cowboys Great

Dallas Cowboys legend DeMarcus Ware is optimistic his former team will extend their next great defensive end Micah Parsons … but when?

The chatter about Micah Parsons’ contract extension negotiations have fizzled out amid free agency rumors and NFL Draft coverage.

In the time since? No significant progress has been made, that we know of.

However, the Cowboys‘ All-Pro pass rusher has been present in the locker room and at voluntary workouts this offseason. He is entering a new leadership role under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer for the 2025 season.

After all, that was one of the stipulations of his potential extension ahead of his fifth and final year of his rookie deal.

Micah is eligible for a record-setting contract that could make him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. But Jerry Jones wants him to prove he deserves it, mostly in his vocal leadership.

Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor member and former defensive end DeMarcus Ware believes Micah is ready to take this step and is certainly deserving of a new contract.

This thinking isn’t uncommon. But when will it actually happen?

“I think they’ll get it sorted out pretty quick,” Ware said in an interview with CasinoBets.

“When I went to Tyron Smith’s retirement deal, it was me and Micah Parsons. There we were talking, he was feeling really good. I see smiles from Jerry. Micah is like, ‘I’m ready for the season, DeMarcus.”

Parson’s deal could have been settled any time throughout this offseason, but, as typical with Jerry Jones’ Cowboys, these things take time. In spite of that, Ware isn’t worried.

“When Jerry saw both of us together talking and how focused Micah was, he was like, ‘Okay, maybe I need to expedite this thing a little bit and get him where he needs to be,’” Ware said.

“I think it’ll be soon. I’m not worried about that.”

Of course, we don’t know for sure how much Jones is planning to “expedite” the deal, but we can assume Parsons and the organization would like to have this weight off their shoulders before they get too deep into OTAs.

Micah is next in a line of recent stars to sign big deals and extend their Cowboys careers, following Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb from last offseason.

Another example of his trend is Jones promoting offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach to keep him at The Star.

“Hiring from within, it was comfortable. It’s something that Jerry’s used to doing. He brought up his supporting cast to be able to support what’s going on now. We just got to solidify Micah and a couple other guys to make sure that they’re ready for this year,” Ware said.

“I just want to see some Ws,” he added. “I have to start seeing those wins come up. The head coach is the highest-pressured position with the Dallas Cowboys. The way you do everything is you start getting wins at the beginning of the season and everything will be okay.”
