The Green Bay Packers adding two Day 2 wide receivers casts a cloud of uncertainty over the position.

Romeo Doubs’ future becomes even more puzzling. The former fourth-round pick has provided steady, consistent play for Jordan Love, but he also landed a surprise one-game suspension “for conduct detrimental to the team.”

It reportedly stemmed from Doubs being “upset with his opportunities.” Drafting two receivers is hardly going to increase his target share.

The Packers reportedly received trade calls after his suspension, which they shut down, but it’s worth revisiting. Doubs only has a year remaining on his rookie contract, and with Green Bay adding Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, and Mecole Hardman to the mix, should they consider listening to offers for Doubs?

One possible landing spot would be poetically ironic.

Cowboys are a painfully obvious landing spot for Romeo Doubs (and the Packers could get a great deal)

The Cowboys need a wide receiver. In fact, they were heavily linked to Matthew Golden. The Packers are beyond grateful Jerry Jones went in another direction.

It’s ironic that Golden falling into the Packers’ lap could make Doubs expendable, and the Cowboys are a perfect landing spot.

Dallas desperately needs a reliable WR2 to pair with CeeDee Lamb, and Jerry Jones pushed the door wide open for the team to make a post-draft move.

If any team is willing to overspend at the wide receiver position, it’s the Cowboys. From the studio that brought you Jonathan Mingo For A Fourth-Round Pick, Jerry Jones might try to trade AT&T Stadium for Doubs. Green Bay could cash in.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that Jones had a front-row seat to Doubs’ career performance — a six-catch, 151-yard, one-touchdown display to eliminate the Cowboys in the wild-card round last year.

It’s Doubs’ only career 100-yard performance.

The Cowboys desperately need another receiver. Jones went on record and admitted it. They just so happened to pass on a dream move for Golden, which led to him falling to the Packers.

By drafting Golden, Green Bay could solve Dallas’ wide receiver need by trading Doubs. The Cowboys love to get fleeced in trades, and Brian Gutekunst rarely loses deals. On top of that, Doubs’ career performance sent the Cowboys packing in the playoffs.

It’s beautiful. It’s painfully poetic — and it just might work.
