Then, a miracle happened.
Earlier this month, Logan’s Legacy 29 volunteer Arturo Flores received a message that instantly broke his heart. The caller reported finding a black-and-white dog lying in the bushes, refusing to budge, and the sounds of her whimpers echoed around the neighborhood.
Flores rushed to the scene and was devastated to see the exact image the caller had described. Just as the Good Samaritan reported, the dog was lying on her side, surrounded by trash and foliage, unable to move but still crying out for help.

“The poor baby [lay] there for days in so much pain, and nobody came,” Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, told The Dodo.
Thankfully, Flores arrived just in time to save the dog, later named Tillie, and he refused to leave without her. He carefully scooped her up and placed her in his car before shuttling her to Camino Pet Hospital for an extensive evaluation.

At the vet clinic, a team of medical professionals soon discovered that Tillie had a broken pelvis, which explained her consistent crying and inability to stand or walk. They were devastated at the thought of Tillie suffering from a broken pelvis while alone on the streets, but they were confident that she would make a full recovery.
“[She] just needs cage rest, small potty breaks outside and love,” Hall wrote on Facebook.

Tillie had a long road to recovery ahead, but thankfully, she felt safe in the hands of the vet team.
“Look how grateful she is looking into Dr. K‘s face, knowing someone is finally helping her,” Hall wrote on Facebook.

The vet team quickly started Tillie on a treatment plan of pain medications and constant love. It’s been a few days since her rescue, and the vet staff are still trying to figure out whether the sweet girl will need surgery to correct her pelvis. But with the medications and nonstop affection, Tillie is already on the mend and smiling again.

As she works towards getting stronger each day, Tillie’s rescuers continue to search for her ideal medical foster home. With a loving personality and a strong will to overcome her most challenging obstacles, Hall knows that someone is bound to fall in love with Tillie eventually.
Until then, Tillie’s team of caregivers will continue showering her with love and showing her that, despite all the heartache, she has many brighter days ahead.
“She will never have to beg for help ever again,” Hall wrote.
