Pop star Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, have stayed out of the public spotlight for the better part of the NFL offseason, but their ability to lay low following their Super Bowl backlash may be coming to an end.
The Chiefs began their voluntary offseason workout program on Monday, and they’ll reconvene for OTAs May 27-29, June 2-4, and June 10-13 before mandatory minicamp starts on June 17-19.
While Kelce has kept a low profile – his weekly “New Heights” podcasts notwithstanding – he only has a few weeks left before he’s back on the field and in front of reporters answering questions. Swift, on the other hand, is being pulled into the court of law.
Multiple news outlets are reporting that the “Blank Space” singer will be subpoenaed soon along with actor Hugh Jackman in the ongoing lawsuit between Swift’s estranged friend Blake Lively and her “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni.
The Daily Mail reported the subpoenas will “most definitely be served this week.”
Because a subpoena is a lawful requirement, if Swift doesn’t show up to testify, she could face legal repercussions.
Swift and Lively’s friendship has been all over social media in recent weeks because of the $400 million lawsuit Lively filed against Baldoni, who was accused by the “Gossip Girl” star of sexual harassment, retaliation and organizing a media smear campaign against her.
Lively dragged Swift into the legal drama after Baldoni accused Lively of using her friendship with the 14-time Grammy winner to strong-arm him into editing specific scenes in “It Ends With Us” the way she wants and contrary to Baldoni’s wishes.
Jackman isn’t officially named in the lawsuit, but he’s being called on because of his knowledge of friend Ryan Reynolds, Lively’s husband who Baldoni accused of trying to ruin his reputation by mocking him through a faux character in his “Deadpool and Wolverine” movie, of which Jackman also starred.
Swift and Lively’s friendship has been strained since the lawsuit was filed, and it was reported that the “Fortnight” singer didn’t invite Lively or Reynolds to sit in her suite at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans this year because of the incident.
The couple sat with Swift at the previous year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
