Green Bay Packers fans know all too well about Aaron Rodgers’ shenanigans, and now Pittsburgh Steelers fans are learning the hard way. At least when Rodgers did stuff like this to the Packers, he was usually signed, and we all knew he was coming back. That’s not the case this offseason, as Rodgers hasn’t signed with the Steelers or any team yet and he’s 41 years old.
That being said, the Steelers have put all of their eggs into the Rodgers basket, and it’s not working out too well for them at the moment. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin might not have seemed frustrated when speaking about the situation, but he did note that he wishes the situation were “settled”.
When asked if there was a deadline for the Steelers before giving up on Rodgers and pivoting in another direction, Tomlin said, “Not to my knowledge. You know, I don’t know that we’ve approached it from a deadline perspective. Certainly, as I mentioned, you’d like to have settled circumstances. But, you know, deadlines don’t often bring that to a head.”
Steelers are learning about Aaron Rodgers in worst way possible
The Steelers don’t have many other realistic quarterback options now that Russell Wilson is off the board, so Rodgers truly is their last shot to have a competitive option at the quarterback position in 2025. Trading for DK Metcalf was likely a way for them to try to entice Rodgers to come play for them, but will it work?
Meanwhile, all Packers fans can do is chuckle when it comes to this situation because they’ve been there before with Rodgers. The team finally got tired of it and traded him to the Jets two years ago, and, what do you know? The drama has mostly disappeared since he was sent away to New York.
Jets fans then got to deal with Rodgers’ theatrics for the next two years and now it’s the Steelers, and to some (and a funnier) degree, the Vikings as well. Packers fans know they have Jordan Love at the helm, so they get to sit back, relax, and laugh as all of this unfolds.
