The New England Patriots were looking for a new center after they released franchise legend David Andrews. Less than a week later, the Patriots reached an agreement with their new center.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Patriots and former Minnesota Vikings center Garrett Bradbury reached an agreement on a two-year deal worth up to $12 million, with $3.8 million guaranteed.
The former Vikings first-round pick started all 88 of the games he played in Minnesota. The Vikings released him after the 2024 season, and less than 24 hours later, the Patriots reached an agreement with him.
Bradbury is 29 years old and will be entering his seventh NFL season in 2025 with the Patriots. He fills the Patriots’ need at center and is someone who has extensive starting experience.
Among all centers in 2024, Bradbury allowed the most pressure according to Pro Football Focus. He also gave up four sacks, tied for the fifth most among all centers, and the same amount as Patriots center Ben Brown.
According to Pro Football Focus, among all centers who played at least 50 percent of 1,288 snaps in 2024, Bradbury had the ninth-highest run-blocking grade.
Bradbury is a much better run blocker than a pass protector, and his struggles in the pass protection game led him to be released by the Vikings.
But, the Patriots needed a center, and the two-year deal worth up to $12 million for Bradbury isn’t a lot to find a veteran starting center. Bradbury joins Morgan Moses as the latest additions to the Patriots starting offensive line.
