NFL WAG life isn’t all fun, glam and games!

Alyssa Takitaki opened up on TikTok about the struggles of the NFL free agency system as her husband, Sione Takitaki, awaits his next job after being released by the New England Patriots.

“The NFL free agency is crazy,” she begins in the clip posted on Monday, March 10. “I don’t know where I’m going to live. I don’t know where I’m going to live! We’re essentially homeless… for now.”

Sione was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the New England Patriots from the Cleveland Browns, where he spent the first five years of his pro football career. The Pats released the veteran linebacker on Feb. 19.

“But basically… free agency, they have teams calling,” Alyssa explains of the process. “You’re trying to figure it out. I have no idea where we’re going to be though, and it always happens this way where you think you’re going somewhere and then last minute… you’re actually going over here.”

Alyssa, who’s been married to Sione since June 2016, says “it’s happened every time.” She recalled, “Even when my husband got drafted, all of the teams that we thought we were going to… no, no, no. In fact, when he got the call, he was in the bathroom… the story is just so insane.”

However, Alyssa was confident in one thing looking ahead.

“The only sure thing in the NFL is that it’s unsure,” she quips. “I don’t know where we’re going to be, but I can count on the fact that we don’t know where we’re going to be.”

“I physically have to like slap myself when I start looking for homes or rentals on Zillow is just insane,” Alyssa jokes in the TikTok to conclude her clip.

In addition to her husband’s uncertainty regarding his next job and potential relocation, a factor unrelated to football adds to the family’s unique situation: the couple’s newborn son, Zion, who they welcomed during spring 2024.

Alyssa documented Zion’s first time getting to watch his dad on the field in December, sharing the heartwarming day on social media.

“Zions first time watching daddy play live 🥹 game days look a lot different now and it’s so much fun!” she captioned the post.

Two days before the Patriots released Sione, he posted sentimental words on Instagram about the recent season coming to an end.

“Year 6 came with some great lessons. Year 7 the mentality doesn’t change. I still want all the smoke! Back to work,” he wrote alongside a slide of images from throughout the season.
