The Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr was a hot name during the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline last summer. Many teams were rumored to be in talk with the White Sox to trade for Robert Jr but nothing ever came to fruition.
With the White Sox projected to have a 20 win improvement in 2025 you would think they are making leaps and bounds improvement for the future, however that actually only puts them around 61 wins.
The 2024 Chicago White Sox were historically one of the worst MLB teams in history finishing with a 41-121 record. Any player that has any value will need to be shipped off for a haul to build a team of the future, and that includes Luis Robert Jr.
Three Teams That Should Trade for Luis Robert Jr.
Robert Jr is having a hot start in spring training, and speculation for trades of him have already started 3 weeks before opening day. Hitting .368 with a couple of home runs, his value has skyrocketed for any team who needs an outfield bat.
White Sox ownership must ship Robert Jr off to build up their farm system for the future.
Luis Robert Jr Stats
2024 Stats: 100 Games .224 AVG, 14 HR’s, 35 RBI’s, 88 Hits
2023 Stats: 145 Games .264 AVG, 38 HR’s, 88 RBI’s, 144 Hits
#3 Houston Astros
The Houston Astros need an upgrade at center field. Projected 2025 starting centerfielder for the Astros is Jake Meyer and is projected to hit 9th in the lineup.
Meyer is a career .228 batting average hitter who has never topped 13 home runs in a season. Robert Jr 2024 season with the White Sox is comparable to Meyers average but before 2024 Robert Jr was electric. 2025 spring training may be a sign that Robert Jr is back to his pre 2024 self.
#2 Cincinnati Reds
The Cincinnati Reds lack a big time bar in the outfield and especially centerield. Current center fielder TJ Friedl broke out in 2023, but dealt with injuries in 2024 and was never able to get back to form.
Austin Hays is set to be the power hitter outfielder in left field while Jake Fraley holds down right. The Reds outfield could use some extra home run hitters and relegate Jake Fraley to the Bench and make the Reds batting lineup deadly 1 to 9.
#1 New York Yankees
The New York Yankees lost out on signing Juan Soto to a long term deal, and now designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton is possibly out for the first couple of months of the season.
The addition of Cody Bellinger is helpful to add with Aaron Judge in the outfield, but can you trust Jasson Dominguez or Trent Grisham to hold down the final spot as a full time starter. Robert Jr could have a rejuvenation of the likes that Jazz Chisholm Jr did when he joined the Yankees last summer.
The Chicago White Sox should ship Robert Jr out sooner than later while his production is at a high level. The potential of Robert Jr and his current consistency is the drawing point for suitors, and they better find a deal before that consistency potentially drops.
