Shocking: Green Bay Packers Insider Breaks Fans Hearts Regarding Rumored Trade

One of the moves that many Green Bay Packers fans would like to see the team make this offseason is to acquire a veteran wide receiver who can become the go-to target in the passing game.

After trading Davante Adams after the 2021 season, Green Bay has drafted a plethora of young and talented wide receivers, but none of them have taken the necessary steps to become the guy for Jordan Love like Adams was for Aaron Rodgers.

Packers fans are not the only ones who feel this why. Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs made several podcast appearances during the week leading up to Super Bowl LIX in which he advocated for the team getting a number one wide receiver.

While he stated that he loves the players they have, he thinks having an established veteran in the room will make everyone at the position better.

Of course, many fans would love to see Adams himself return to the Packers if he gets released by the New York Jets.

However, a new trade rumor suggests a younger pass catcher may be on their radar.

On Friday morning, news broke that the Packers had begun trade negotiations with the Seattle Seahawks. Green Bay’s target in these rumored talks is two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Corbin Smith, who covers the Seahawks for the Locked On Network, stated in a follow up post that Green Bay is willing to give up their first round pick (#23) and either Romeo Doubs or Dontayvion Wicks. The Packers would also get a Day Three pick.

This past season, Metcalf had 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns. Perhaps even more intriguing for Green Bay is that he had a drop percentage of just 3.7%. Last year, Doubs and Wicks both dropped over 10% of the passes thrown their way.

After the trade rumor went viral on social media, Packers fans were excited about the possibility of adding such a talented wide receiver to their team. However, Green Bay insider Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reported that no such trade talk has taken place:

Interestingly, both Schneidman and Smith are in attendance at the NFL Scouting Combine. Obviously, they are getting two different stories from their respective sources.

Which reporter will prove to be accurate remains to be seen, but at least one thing is clear for Packers fans: Green Bay is looking to make some serious moves.
