The NFL Draft process is already well under way, and the quarterback position is setting into place. While Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are the top options likely to go in the first round, outside of that, no one knows where the rest of the players will fall.
That leaves a lot of room for movement before the draft in April. The Pittsburgh Steelers will likely select a quarterback at some point in the 2025 NFL Draft, but who could emerge as the third option behind Ward and Sanders?
The latest player receiving some run is Louisville’s Tyler Shough. Down at the Senior Bowl, Shough is one of the players who received the most hype, and coming out of it with perhaps the best performance out of the crop, Shough is rising.
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler praised Shough’s tools and ranked him as the fourth quarterback in this class, with Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart coming in before him. However, Brugler noted that Shough was a fast-risiing candidate and ‘a dark horse’ to be the third guy off the board.
On top of that, former ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay praised Shough as a ‘top four quarterback’ in the class. All in all, it seems like Shough is experiencing a rise in the draft community, with the NFL likely ahead of the curve already.
If the Steelers are looking for a day two quarterback, Dart, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, and Ohio State’s Will Howard will all get talked about, but Shough looks like someone who will put his stake into the claim for QB3, too.
