DISCUSS: Who will hit the Dodgers’ 78th home run in 2025?

This year is the 60th anniversary of the Dodgers’ fourth championship, as the team that year beat the Twins in the World Series in seven games.

That 1965 was pitching-heavy, with Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, and Claude Osteen heading the rotation and starting 76 percent of the team’s games. The offense was middle of the pack with a 91 wRC+, averaging 3.75 runs per game in a National League that scored 4.03 runs per game.

The 1965 Dodgers totaled only 78 home runs, dead last among the 20 major league teams. Drysdale, a pitcher, was seventh on the team with seven home runs. Lou Johnson and Jim Lefebvre tied for the team lead with 12 home runs apiece.

In 2024, the Dodgers led the NL and were third in the majors with 233 home runs. They’ve finished in the top three in the NL in home runs in each of the last seven seasons.

Last year, the Dodgers hit their 78th home run in their 63rd game, on June 5 against the Pirates. Shohei Ohtani did the honors, in a memorable battle against Paul Skenes at PNC Park.

Today’s question is who will hit the Dodgers’ 78th home run of 2025? If you want to add a date to your guess, go for it in the comments below.
