After the Commanders win last night, the Cowboys now have the longest NFC Conference drought in the NFL, having gone 28 years without making it.

The Brief

  • The Dallas Cowboys now have the longest NFC Championship drought in the league.
  • Dallas has not been to the conference championship since 1996.
  • Washington’s last appearance was in 1991.

DALLAS – The Washington Commanders win over the Detroit Lions on Saturday moved the Dallas Cowboys into a title no team wants to have.

Every team in the NFC has been to the NFC Championship game more recently than Dallas.

By the numbers

Dallas has not been to the conference championship game since the 1995-1996 season, when they went on to win the Super Bowl.

Washington will make an appearance in its first conference championship since 1991.

In the AFC, only the Cleveland Browns (1990) and Miami Dolphins (1993) have a longer drought than the Cowboys.
