Drake Maye had a good excuse for not attending Mike Vrabel’s introductory press conference.
The New England Patriots quarterback announced his engagement to his long-term girlfriend, Ann Michael Hudson. Maye posted pictures to his Instagram account of him down on one knee on a beach in Mexico.
“Love doing life with you. Can’t wait to marry you!,” he captioned the three photos.
The comment section was flooded with well-wishes from current and former Patriots including Bailey Zappe, K.J. Osborn, Kendrick Bourne and Hunter Henry.
Maye and Hudson have been together since they were 12 years old, per a TikTok Hudson posted. They attended the University of North Carolina together before he was drafted third overall by the Patriots in 2024.
Maye had a strong first year in New England after taking over as the starting quarterback in Week 6. He flashed plenty of potential and showed growth every week — a good sign for the 22-year-old as he prepares to go into a pivotal Year 2 with a new coach.
