The Dallas Cowboys have decided to move on from head coach Mike McCarthy, which Micah Parsons sees as a “complete reset” for the franchise.
The Cowboys and McCarthy parted ways after five seasons after failing to agree on an extension. McCarthy’s contract was up and he will now be free to pursue other opportunities.
Dallas is coming off a 7-10 campaign but had success under McCarthy. He led the Cowboys to three consecutive 12-win regular seasons, although Dallas produced just one playoff victory under his watch.
“He’s always been good to us. Losing a great coach like Mike hurts. It’s gonna be a very interesting offseason,” Parsons said on his “The Edge” podcast.
“It’s gonna be a complete reset.
I trust that we’re gonna make the right decisions.” Parsons is heading into a critical offseason. With one year remaining on his contract, he is in line to land a lucrative extension.
While the McCarthy news stings, Parsons is prepared to lead the team into a new era.
“As one of the leaders of this team, I’m gonna be looking forward to accepting all challenges and embrace whatever comes to help lead my team to a championship,” Parsons said. “We gotta move on. We can’t think about the past. ”
At the end of the day, coaches can only do so much.
Us as players, we got to build a winning culture.
I said we’re gonna hold the (Super Bowl) trophy because I believe in our guys.” The Cowboys have begun their head coaching search, and one name is already generating significant buzz: Deion Sanders.
Jerry Jones has initiated conversations with Sanders about the position, with discussions between the two expected to continue.
