NFL fans aren’t too happy with Pittsburgh’s decision on head football coach Mike Tomlin.
Tomlin, who has been Pittsburgh’s head coach since 2007, lost his sixth straight playoff game on Saturday night. The Steelers were crushed by the Ravens, 28-14, in Baltimore. Pittsburgh has been a solid regular season team for a while now, but they’ve failed to build a good – or even just average – modern, NFL offense. It’s constantly holding them back in big games.
But on Sunday, Gerry Dulac reported that the Steelers have no plans on moving on from Tomlin.
From the report:
Despite a widespread public outcry and another embarrassing early exit from the postseason, the Steelers are not planning to make any move involving coach Mike Tomlin, according to team sources.
Tomlin signed a three-year extension before the season that will keep him with the team through at least the 2027 season. He is the longest-tenured coach in the NFL and believed to earn approximately $15 million annually.
NFL fans aren’t too happy with this decision.
“It’s embarrassing,” one fan wrote. “Let’s hope Dan Rooney III takes over soon because Art is chicken (expletive) if this is true. Still holding out hope that he grows a backbone. His legacy is going to be ruined (just like Tomlin’s will be) for riding with him.”
“Not surprised, but so much for urgency,” one fan added.
“What is the defining of insanity??? Cc: Art Rooney II” one fan added.
“I think Tomlin is a very good coach — and I also think a mutual parting of ways might ultimately benefit both sides,” one fan added.
“Hell yeah baby. More mediocrity!!!” one fan added.
“If not then there should be coaching changes. Fire Myers, Austin, Grady Jackson!” one fan added.
“I figured……can’t defend him anymore tho enough is enough. Tired of losing,” one fan added.
Tomlin, who grew up in Virginia, is a really good coach, but at some point, something has to change in Pittsburgh. You can only watch so many dreadful performances on offense before making a change, right?
