The Pittsburgh Steelers found six of their 10 wins by one-possession in 2024, showing just how close their season was to being turned upside down. But the Mike Tomlin-led Steelers continued to skirt past adversity, especially in the beginning of the year, largely thanks to winning along the margins.
That includes an elite special teams unit, headlined by kicker Chris Boswell.
Both Boswell and safety Miles Killebrew were named to the Players’ All-Pro Team, an NFLPA initiative that allows the players to vote on the best players at each position. Killebrew, a team captain, earned his honors for standing out on special teams, particularly on kick and punt coverage.
Boswell has been among the most consistent Steelers this season. Keeping points on the board while the offense wavered and remaining a weapon from long range, Boswell has been a boon to Pittsburgh’s chances.
The veteran made 41 of his 44 field goal attempts, with over a dozen coming from 50+ yards out. He didn’t miss any of his 35 extra points and has made a solid argument to overtake Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker as the best kicker in the sport.
Killebrew, meanwhile, has a reputation that precedes itself as a hard-nosed player who’s more than willing to get his hands dirty. You don’t become a Steelers captain – or an All-Pro on special teams – without that; and his 13 tackles (eight solo) didn’t hurt, either. Killebrew earned Associated Press All-Pro honors last season, 2024 was his first time getting the nod from his peers.
Notably, edge rusher T.J. Watt and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward were not included, despite impressive seasons. It’s hard to blame the voters, who opted for Trey Hendrickson, Myles Garrett, Chris Jones, and Jalen Carter instead.
The Ravens, who Pittsburgh will visit on Saturday, earned Players’ All-Pro honors at quarterback (Lamar Jackson), linebacker (Roquan Smith), and safety (Kyle Hamilton).
