Week 12 has finally arrived, and much to the excitement of Steelers fans, the Black and Gold kick off the week with a Thursday Night Football game against the Cleveland Browns. The 8-2 Steelers will look to improve to nine wins on the season against their 2-8 AFC North rivals, but they should follow these five offensive keys to victory to ensure their momentum continues to roll.
Exploit the Browns’ subpar rushing defense:
Cleveland’s defense gave up 214 rushing yards to the Saints in Week 11, and Pittsburgh’s offense works best when focusing on running the football.
Utilize play-action in conjunction with Russell Wilson’s deep ball:
Russell Wilson has perhaps the best deep ball in the game and could tear through Cleveland’s defense even more on play-action calls.
Give Najee Harris at least 15 carries:
Najee Harris has had a career year so far in 2024, but he needs carries to showcase his talent. Harris should see 15 to 20 carries against a poor Cleveland rush defense.
Use more Justin Fields packages in the red zone:
The Justin Fields package made its debut in Week 11, and it looked outstanding. The Steelers should focus on getting Fields into the red zone once Wilson has led the offense there.
Keep Russell Wilson upright:
Pittsburgh’s offensive line allowed Wilson to be under constant pressure in Week 11, and against the always-formidable Myles Garrett, the Steelers should pull out all the stops to keep Wilson’s jersey clean on Thursday.
