The Dallas Cowboys are down another body for the rest of the year.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Wednesday that safety Markquese Bell will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to a dislocated left shoulder. McCarthy told reporters that Bell will undergo surgery in the “near future.”

“You talk about a young man who’s been so consistent, has done whatever we asked him to do. To go play linebacker last year for as much as he did, I think speaks volumes. He’s been one of John [Fassel’s] core guys since the day he arrived here,” McCarthy said. “We’ll definitely miss him this year.”

Bell sustained the injury on an attempted tackle in kickoff coverage during the second quarter against Houston on Monday night. He was deemed questionable to return at the time, but was ruled out shortly after the halftime break.

Bell signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He has appeared in 31 games over the past three seasons, including nine games in 2024. Bell has made six tackles this season, with the majority of his snaps coming on special teams.
