UPDATE: Although things could change, the current expectation is that Eliot Wolf will remain as the Patriots general manager.

Patriots expected to keep Eliot Wolf as EVP of player personnel image

The New England Patriots fired head coach Jerod Mayo on Sunday, after finishing their 2024 season with a 4-13 record and a win over the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium,

There are expected to be more changes to the staff in the coming days and weeks, but executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf is expected to remain in his role, according to The Athletic’s Chad Graff.

Wolf, 42, originally came to New England in 2020 as a consultant and rose to director of scouting in 2022 and to his current role last offseason.

In his first full year in charge, Wolf nailed the selection of quarterback Drake Maye in the first round, but the rest of his draft had disappointing rookie seasons. His free agency signings and re-signings didn’t exactly excel either.

While he brought in Austin Hooper, who had a successful season as the team’s second tight end, he also brought in Chukwuma Okorafor and K.J. Osborn, who were expected to play prominent roles but didn’t make it to the end of the season on the roster.

Even the decisions to extend Rhamondre Stevenson, who fumbled so much he was benched to end the year, and safety Jabrill Peppers, who was involved in off-field issues, weren’t impressive.

If Wolf doesn’t nail this upcoming offseason with roughly $130 million to spend and another high draft selection, he will be on the hot seat again next year.
