🚨REPORT🚨: The feeling around the NFL is that Mike Vrabel is going to use the Jets’ HC vacancy as leverage to get the job he wants, which is to be the head coach of the New England Patriots, per Tony Pauline. Mike Vrabel wants to be the next HC of the Patriots.

The New England Patriots promoted Jerod Mayo to be the team’s head coach last offseason, replacing Bill Belichick after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl wins.

Unfortunately, things haven’t gone the way that Mayo or the team wanted in 2024, as they’ve put together a 3-13 record through the first 16 games of the season. If they lose on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, they’ll secure their fewest wins in a season since 1992 when they finished 2-14.

While reports have surfaced that Patriots owner Robert Kraft wants to keep Mayo beyond one year despite all of the team’s issues, there may be one coach on the market who could make the team change their mind.

According to Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline, those close to former Patriots linebacker and Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel have indicated that he wants the Patriots job if they move on from Mayo.

Vrabel, 49, played for the Patriots from 2001-08 and was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame in 2023. He was the head coach of the Titans from 2018-23, leading the club to a 54-45 record and three playoff appearances.

In 2024, he served as a consultant with the Cleveland Browns.

Kraft would really have to be swayed to make a change after he spent the 2024 offseason and regular season hyping up Mayo as his choice, saying that he handpicked Mayo for the job five years ago.

However, after a tumultuous year that included a 40-7 blowout at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers last week, Kraft, and his son Jonathan, may be willing to move on after just one season to hire an old friend with more experience.
