HOT NEWS: NFL Host Offers Completely Absurd Patriots Draft Scenario

The New England Patriots could find themselves in a favorable position when the 2025 NFL Draft rolls around.

NFL Host Offers Completely Absurd Patriots Draft Scenario

The Patriots have a clear path to the No. 1 overall pick after the New York Giants earned a win to fall out of that spot Sunday. All New England has to do is lose Week 18 against the AFC’s No. 2-seeded Buffalo Bills.

The pick, or trade return for the pick, is the next major step in the rebuild for the Patriots around franchise quarterback Drake Maye. Instead, FS1’s Nick Wright tossed out a hypothetical scenario on X that sends New England in a totally different direction.

“A not totally insane scenario,” Wright posted. “The Patriots fall in love with Shedeur (Sanders), and instead of trading the #1 pick, they trade Drake for a Top 5 pick. They could then potentially draft Shedeur AND Travis (Hunter). And then, for the hell of it, fire (Jerod) Mayo and hire Deion (Sanders)!”

Would the Patriots really consider bringing the whole Colorado regime to New England?

They shouldn’t.

Now, if the Patriots want to take the Heisman Trophy winner with Hunter at No. 1 overall, that’s one thing. Hunter is dynamic at wide receiver and cornerback, both of which will be needed for New England come draft time.

Outside of that, Maye has already shown how special he can be, and there’s absolutely zero reason to move on from him. Sanders has talent, but the Patriots need to trust Maye and build around him for the future.

Firing Jerod Mayo a year into his tenure may be more real than ever after a disastrously Week 17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

With that said, seeing Deion Sanders coaching the New England Patriots seems remarkably unlikely.
