Tom Brady had 614 touchdowns while he was a member of the New England Patriots, but Bill Belichick has one that stands out the most.
During a recent episode of the “Let’s Go!” podcast, Belichick revealed Brady’s Super Bowl XXXIX four-yard touchdown pass to David Givens was his favorite one.
“Tom, one of your greatest plays ever was in the Super Bowl against the Eagles. This comes down to fundamental execution that’s just so critical,” Belichick said. “… We gotta go to the third guy and make it a back-shoulder throw. That’s what great execution is under pressure in the most critical moments of the game. That’s how you win.”
The pass came with just over a minute left in the second quarter with the game tied 7-7. The Patriots eventually went on to win, 24-21.
It was a play that forced Brady to think on his feet and execute quickly after the play broke down when Christian Fauria fell on the play and Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch was covered by the Eagles.
Brady found Givens and connected with him en route to the win.
