You are here: Home/ Sports/ NFL/ Former NFL GM Makes A Big Statement About Packers
For years, the Green Bay Packers weren’t very good on defense.
Matt LaFleur’s offense was usually on point, but despite all that talent on defense, they struggled to live up to that potential.
That’s no longer the case.
Jeff Hafley has completely turned that unit around, and while they got off to a somewhat slow start to the season, they seem to be peaking at the right time.
That’s why former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum believes they’re a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
On ESPN’s “Get Up,” he argued that while all their offensive weapons and Jordan Love are great, their defense makes them a team to beat.

He praised Hafley for his brave decision to quit Boston College and his head coaching position to become a defensive coordinator in the NFL.
The Packers’ defense put on a show in the win over the New Orleans Saints, helping the team clinch its fifth playoff berth in six seasons with LaFleur at the helm.
Granted, the Saints are no barometer for a good defense, especially not with rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler, but allowing no points in an NFL game is no minor thing.
The NFC North has been so wild that the Packers will most likely be on the road in the playoffs.
Still, no one wants to see the Packers in a win-or-go-home situation.
