GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Packers and Bellin Health partnered up on Wednesday to bring some holiday cheer to patients and staff in Green Bay.
At Bellin Hospital Wednesday morning, there was a line of patients and medical staff, with all of them excited to get a picture and have a moment with one of their favorite Packers players.
“People going through different things. Being able to put joy on the face is the main thing I strive for when I give back,” says Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins.
Packers players Elgton Jenkins, Chris Brooks, and Eric Stokes spent the time handing out festive treats and signing memorabilia.
“They’re really fun and very personable. Drawing pictures, gingerbreads, on there. They wrote it out to both of our grandmas,” says Lexi Evers of Appleton.
“I think the holidays can be a really hard and stressful time for people. So this is a nice light and easy way to get people to smile and have a good day,” says Amber Blemke of Luxemburg.
For one Packers guard, being able to come and put a smile on somebody’s face is what it’s all about.
“I was once that child. Being able to look up to older people in the community, giving back to my hometown. I know it meant a lot to me. So, being here and being able to do that, I feel like it benefits the community well,” says Jenkins.
This special visit is just one example of their continued work to support those who cheer them on when they hit the field.
