TRADE RUMORS: Packers Urged to Sign Last-Gasp Cornerback from Eagles and Bills

Rasul Douglas may have gotten his start in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles, but his best years came with the Green Bay Packers.

In 2017, the Philadelphia Eagles drafted cornerback Rasul Douglas in the third round, hoping he could become a quality starter in the league.

That ended up happening. … just not with the Eagles.

Douglas spent three seasons in Philadelphia and struggled to find a long-term role in their defense. Instead, Douglas became a quality starter with the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills.

And now?

At 30 years old, Douglas is back on the open market as a free agent. While he could end up returning to Philly or even his previous team in Buffalo, a move back to Green Bay is the idea getting a media push.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder called a reunion with Green Bay one of the top options for Douglas as the calendar flips to July.

“Douglas revived his career with the Packers in 2021, and a reunion would make a lot of sense,” Holder said. “After moving on from Jaire Alexander last month, Green Bay is expected to start Nate Hobbs and Keisean Nixon at outside cornerback.

“Both Hobbs and Nixon are better at nickelback, though, so adding Douglas could allow one to move back to their more natural position.”

Douglas spent three years with the Packers and picked off 10 passes for Green Bay during that span. Those numbers are far and away better than when he was with any other team throughout his nine-year run in the league.

The West Virginia product wants to continue his NFL career; call it a last-gasp effort.

That’s where returning to Green Bay would make a lot of sense for the veteran at this point.
