Breaking: Sauce Gardner Takes Shot At Mac Jones, Happy To Get ‘Revenge’

Mac Jones sunk the Jacksonville Jaguars again in Week 15 with an interception on the final drive to fall to the New York Jets.

Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner hauled in Jones’ overthrow to seal New York’s fourth win of the season and secured his first interception since his impact rookie season in 2022. That pick appeared to take some pressure off the third-year defender.

“A lot of people hate on me (for not having more interceptions),” Gardner told reporters, per the New York Post. “That’s not a secret. That’s just what people do because of the things that I’ve accomplished and the things that I’ve done. So, it was great to be able to make that play.

It was great for the game to be on the line and Mac Jones to throw the ball at me.”

Well, that seemed specific. But it does make sense.

Jones and Gardner had a previous encounter last season when Jones still started for the New England Patriots and went 5-0 as a starter against the Jets.

Gardner claimed that Jones hit him in the “private part” during a Week 3 scrum when New England earned a road victory at MetLife Stadium.

That also was not the first time Jones got accused of dirty play in his career.

“I ain’t even gonna speak on what he did, but I’m sure y’all remember,’ Gardner said. “I respect the game too much to just be out there talking trash to him, but it was great to be able to get a little payback, get a little bit of revenge.”

Safe to say that incident made Sunday’s clincher that much sweeter for the former All-Pro cornerback.
