Breaking: Twins rising prospect will display talent at 2025 All-Star Futures Game

The Twins are sending their No. 4 prospect to the All-Star Futures Game.

2024 MLB Draft Presented by Nike

Twins shortstop Kaelen Culpepper slashed .293/.385/.479 with nine homers and 34 RBIs in 247 plate appearances with High-A Cedar Rapids before earning a promotion to Double-A Wichita.

Culpepper hasn’t slowed down much since his promotion, posting a .273/.368/.455 slash line in 38 plate appearances.

Due to his impressive statistics this year, Culpepper will have the opportunity to showcase his talent on a national stage.

Twins shortstop Kaelen Culpepper set to partake in 2025 All-Star Futures Game

Culpepper will join top MLB prospects Leo De Vries, Andrew Painter, JJ Wetherholt and more on the All-Star Futures Game roster.

The game is scheduled to be played at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, July 12, at Truist Park in Atlanta.

MLB Pipeline ranks Culpepper, who was drafted 21st overall out of Kansas State in 2024, as the Twins’ No. 4 prospect.

He played in nine games with Low-A Fort Myers last season, hitting .297/.366/.541 with two homers and nine RBIs before getting promoted to High-A.

Culpepper had a rough showing upon joining Fort Myers, hitting just .210/.310/.306 in 71 plate appearances over 17 games last year. Luckily for Minnesota, Culpepper has turned things around this season.

Culpepper, 21, likely has a long way to go before making his MLB debut. MLB Pipeline predicts Culpepper will make his Twins debut in 2027.

With Carlos Correa set to be around for a while and Brooks Lee’s ability to play shortstop, there isn’t much room for another shortstop on the Twins’ 26-man roster anytime soon unless someone gets injured.

If the Twins string some wins together and end up buyers by the trade deadline, or are buyers next season, Culpepper could potentially be a high-value trade chip the Twins could afford to lose if they were to receive a worthy return.
