REVEALED: The 8 Biggest Mysteries From Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

Close-up shot of Taylor Swift playing the guitar from the Eras Tour.

Ever since Taylor Swift completed the massive success that was The Eras Tour in December 2024, fans have been anxiously awaiting her next move.

Swift is known for leaving hints and Easter eggs in her songs, social media posts, and performances for fans to find.

Though fans were able to anticipate certain things, like the announcement of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at the last SoFi Stadium show, sometimes the curtains are just blue.

Or, are they?

With eagle-eyed fans on high alert, there are still some unanswered questions left over from the tour. While we now know that none of them are going to directly lead to Reputation (Taylor’s Version), that doesn’t mean that Swift has nothing up her sleeve.

While waiting for her next move, us Swifties can do what we do best: theorize.

8The Late Arrival Of The Gold Reputation Bodysuit

Why Was It Hiding For So Long?

One of the most important elements of The Eras Tour was the outfits that Taylor Swift wore throughout the shows. Each individual era received the multiple outfit treatment, with Speak Now having a total of eight dresses by the end. However, the Reputation set remained the same for 134 straight shows.

Many were awaiting an outfit change as a signal that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) would be on the horizon, but fans had begun to lose hope that a new bodysuit was even possible. After a two-month break from the tour, the golden snake bodysuit finally made its debut in Miami on October 18, 2024.

Taylor Swift finally owns all of her music, but what does this mean for the future of her career, including two unreleased re-recording projects?

The question remains: Why did this bodysuit wait so long to appear on stage? Were there more, and something happened so that they never saw the stage? Was there something special about Miami that she chose to change it there? With Reputation (Taylor’s Version) only a quarter of the way done, was this an Easter egg that has simply fizzled out into nothing?

7The Golden “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” Two Piece

Where Is The Other Half?

As if putting on one of the biggest tours of all time wasn’t an impressive feat on its own, Taylor Swift decided to add a whole new section for her album The Tortured Poets Department, which was released during the tour. The last song, “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” was a commentary on the tour itself and how Swift dealt with heartbreak amidst performing.

The theme of multiple outfit variations continued, with a black, white, and graphite version of the “Broken Heart” two-piece revealing themselves. There was also a gold top that Swift always paired with the black bottoms. When she debuted the music video for the song that included tour and rehearsal footage, fans were shocked to see that the golden set was a matching two-piece.

Why did we never see the two-piece as a set on stage? Since it was a later addition, there are probably several explanations, whether it was style or Swift herself just deciding never to wear it. The fans will always wonder and wish they could’ve seen it in person for themselves.

6The Light Pink Karma Jacket

Where Did It Disappear To?

To close out the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift and her dancers would don sparkly fringe jackets in a rainbow of colors, with Swift’s changing several times. She had four jackets in rotation: multicolor, dark blue, magenta pink, and light pink. There was even a rare show where she didn’t wear one at all.

After a few appearances, the pink jacket seemed to disappear from the rotation. However, we sort of have an answer to this one.

After a few appearances, the pink jacket seemed to disappear from the rotation. However, we sort of have an answer to this one. Allegedly, there was a backstage fire at Gillette Stadium that threatened several of Swift’s outfits that were hanging nearby. One of her backup dancers, Tamiya, can be seen wearing the pink one after the supposed fire.

Is this fire why some outfits never reappeared? How many outfits did it really affect? We may never know the answers to those questions, unless someone who was there can set the record straight.

5Walking Through The Orange Door At The End Of The Last Show

Could She Be Entering Into Her Next Era?

At the end of every performance on the Eras Tour, Taylor Swift would stand on her mark and let an elevator carry her below the stage. Meanwhile, an orange door descends onto the screen behind her and all of her dancers go through it. During the very last show in Vancouver, Canada, Swift decided to forgo her descent and she left the stage alongside her dancers through the door.

Could this door represent her next era in general, even if it is something completely new?

The color orange has always symbolized the lost album, Karma, to the Swiftie fandom. Is this Taylor Swift hinting that Karma is real, and it will be her next era? Could this door represent her next era in general, even if it is something completely new? Did she just want to walk out with her dancers, sharing their final moments on stage together instead of by herself?

4The Missing Green Guitar

Was It Ever Meant To Be Seen?

Just in time for Christmas 2024, Taylor Swift released The Eras Tour Book, a compilation of photos and notes written by Swift that encapsulated highlights from the tour. A two-page spread at the very end raised more questions than answers. It displayed most of the outfits worn throughout the tour, and some we had never seen.

The page details sketches of the outfits worn in each era. Some were missing, like the multicolored surprise song dresses. In the Lover era, there were actually two things added. There is a lighter pink “The Man” jacket and what appears to be a green guitar. This guitar was never seen on stage, so where could it be?

3The Surprise Songs She Didn’t Sing

Why Didn’t She Play Her Entire Discography?

Perhaps one of the most anticipated moments of each Eras Tour performance was the surprise songs set. Each night was different, with a new song on the guitar and another on the piano.

After the shows in Melbourne, Australia, mashups became a regular occurrence as Swift wanted to push herself to play as many songs in her discography as possible.

Taylor Swift spent the acoustic section of her Eras Tour playing a huge variety of songs from her discography, but these 8 were never included.

As Swift has such a large discography, playing every single song would be difficult, though not impossible. While some understandably would be too emotional to play live, such as “Soon You’ll Get Better” and “Ronan,” we will always mourn the songs that we never got to hear live, and we will never know why she decided not to play them this time.

2The Missing 1989 Outfit Combos

Why Did We Never See These Outfits?

As the Eras Tour started up again in Paris, France in 2024, with the addition of The Tortured Poets Department came more new outfits. Some eras got a completely new look, like the 1989 set.

Instead of a matching two-piece, Taylor Swift gradually started to debut six tops and six skirts that would create 36 different combinations.

Even the boots would change with the different colors. To celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Taylor Swift wore a purple top, yellow skirt, and green boots, which was the first time her boots didn’t match the top or skirt.

Though she had lots of options, two combinations were never seen on the tour: the green top and skirt and the green top with the yellow skirt. Many fans speculated the appearance of the all-green would be a signal that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) was on its way and waited each night to see if it would show.

After needing to cancel her three shows in Vienna, Austria to keep herself, her team, and her fans safe from a threat, many fans began to wonder if these outfit combinations were meant to be worn at these shows. Some have also wondered if she never wore them to commemorate the shows that never happened.

1The Repeated Outfit Lineups During The Final Shows

What Was She Recording For?

Taylor Swift is known for her intentional decisions in her music and her performances. Every moment of the Eras Tour was curated by her and her team to fit the vision. Switching up her outfits for each era each night not only kept it interesting, but also gave her the chance to wear so many amazing pieces on stage.

The only time that Swift wore the same lineup of outfits for three nights in a row was during the first three shows at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles while she was filming for the Eras Tour concert film. That is, until the last three nights of the tour in Vancouver, Canada. Fans also noticed that camera crews had returned to the stage.

The recording could be for so many things. Is she going to release a tour documentary? Will she release a second version of the tour film, this time with The Tortured Poets Department included? Could it be something that only Taylor Swift herself knows? That’s probably the best answer. As much as Swifties love to speculate, Taylor Swift loves to surprise us just as much.
