NESN in Boston is telling us that the New England Patriots are “eyeing” the Micah Parsons contract situation, presumably with some sort of a top-secret plan to trade for the Dallas Cowboys superstar.
FRISCO – The wild and wacky guesses continue to roll in on the future of Micah Parsons, and they all mangle the facts.
In recent days…
*A report suggests that the Dallas Cowboys and defensive star Parsons are “making progress,” but
CowboysCountry.com can tell you that none of those involved can really confirm that there is much movement there.
*NFL Network comes along suggesting a major change in what Parsons and owner Jerry Jones are planning on doing together.
According to NFL Network, Parsons could seek a shorter extension than the Cowboys traditionally prefer so he can return to the market at age 29 or 30, and that the Cowboys might need to ‘shave a year or even two off’ of their offer to seal the deal.
We’re not sure why the Cowboys want to do that given that Parsons wants to lock in long-term. And, now we have a source explaining.
The Cowboys do not particularly want to do that.
Nor does Parsons.
The report, a source close to the negotiations tells CowboysCountry.com, is “simply not true.”
*And now? NESN in Boston is telling us that the New England Patriots are “eyeing” the Parsons situation, presumably with some sort of a top-secret plan to trade for him.
They write that the Patriots are “watching the market” on Parsons, which, by the way, as we have been reporting for months is all about Parsons being interested in signing a lengthy five-year deal at around $40 million per season with the $200 million total helping to make him the highest-paid non-QB ever.
NESN plows on by quoting Pats coach Mike Vrabel’s very generic comment about roster-building and pretending it has something to do with Parsons.
“Trying to always continually make the roster more competitive … that has to happen,” Vrabel said recently.
Yes. Very generic. Nothing having to do with Parsons and the Cowboys.
NESN concludes, however that Vrabel’s “search may soon include some of the biggest names still waiting to get paid” – like Parsons.
The facts: As we write this, there is no movement. There is no change. Parsons wants to be a “Cowboy for Life.”
Nothing has changed.
