When the Los Angeles Dodgers signed right-handed pitcher Noah Syndergaard ahead of the 2023 season, he was expected to be the next great reclamation project in an organization full of them.
Four months into the season, when he was shipped off to the Cleveland Guardians with a 7.16 ERA, it appeared his career may just be over.
However, after waiting around for the entire 2024 season and nearly the first half of the 2025 season, Syndergaard has finally made his return to professional baseball, as he’s signed a minor league deal with the Chicago White Sox, per James Fegan of Sox Machine.
The White Sox signed Noah Syndergaard to a minor league deal. He’s at the complex in Arizona.

Syngergaard, still only 32, is looking to get back to MLB after struggling over the last few seasons of his career.
Syndergaard was a standout pitcher with the Mets early in his career, throwing 100 mph and generating strikeouts at an elite clip.
However, he was never able to recover from Tommy John surgery, as he bounced around the league from 2022-23, spending time with the Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, Dodgers and Guardians.
After finishing the 2023 season with a 6.50 ERA over 18 starts with L.A. and Cleveland, he’s been unable to get back to the big leagues.
The White Sox, who enter Tuesday at 25-54, have decided to take a flier.
If Syngergaard can build himself up to making starts at the MLB level in the next month — and if he plays somewhat well — he could be a candidate to be moved at the deadline.
If not, he could eat innings for a White Sox team that won’t be contending this year, and then hope to latch onto another team in the offseason after proving he can still pitch at the big league level.
For Chicago, there’s no risk in this signing. For Syndergaard, this could prove to be his final chance at getting another opportunity in Major League Baseball.
