One thing has become abundantly clear since Caleb Williams arrived as the new quarterback of the Chicago Bears. He hates the Green Bay Packers.
Now, he had no reason to. His favorite player growing up was Aaron Rodgers. One would think he’d be a massive Packers fan.
However, the former #1 pick has taken every opportunity to direct digs at the Bears’ bitter rivals. It started small. Before his rookie season, he encouraged chants of “Green Bay sucks!” at a local restaurant.
He carried that into the season with two high-quality performances. In the first meeting, he put the Bears in position to beat the Packers on a final field goal attempt.
It was blocked. However, the second try came at Lambeau Field in the season finale, where he engineered another 4th quarter comeback, this time with Cairo Santos hitting the winning field goal.
Williams hasn’t let up since then. During an appearance at Fanatics Fest, he was asked his thoughts on Green Bay fans.
“They suck,” he replied.

Barely a few days later, the Bears QB was at it again. Chants of “Fuck Green Bay!” broke out at Summer Smash. Video caught Williams right in the middle of it, encouraging them to get louder.
Caleb Williams is many things, including not scared.
Most Bears quarterbacks over recent decades approached the Packers rivalry with calm professionalism.
They acknowledged the importance of the games but never went beyond that. Not since Jim McMahon has the organization had a quarterback who is so open about his hatred for Green Bay.
Caleb Williams sees no reason to keep his feelings hidden.
This rivalry is central to Chicago’s success or failure every year. The last time the Bears made the playoffs without beating Green Bay at least once was 2001, and they had to go 13-3 to make that happen.
Williams isn’t naive. Success in his career goes through the Packers, and he is declaring war. He doesn’t care if their fans hate him—all the better.
