BREAKING NEWS: Injured Cowboys Forced To Sign ‘Tenacious’ Lineman From Local High School

Cowboys top NFL Draft picks linemen Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe are battling injuries. So, on the heels of Zack Martin going on IR, Dallas makes a move.

FRISCO – Zack Martin is injured and out for the season, and maybe forever. Cooper Beebe has a concussion and is out for this week at Carolina. Tyler Guyton has a bum ankle but is now off the injury list for the week and should be available for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Overall? The Dallas offensive line has improved in terms of its play in recent weeks but as recently as the Monday night loss to the Bengals was sent scrambling for healthy bodies.

And so here comes another scramble with the signing of a prospect once termed “ferocious.”

The Cowboys last spring said goodbye to starters Tyron Smith (to the Jets) and Tyler Biadasz (to the Commanders), turning the page with the drafting of first-rounder Guyton and then later, Beebe. But Guyton has battled injuries (most recently an ankle) and his grip on a starting job seems to be slipping. Beebe did hold down his job but is out for Week 15.

And of course Martin had ankle surgery and may be done in the NFL at age 34.

So the Cowboys need a body and they found a big one they know well in Braeden Daniels, a 6-4, 300-pound fourth-round pick of the Commanders in 2023. He’s bounced around in his brief NFL time, the Utah product having spent time with the Texans, Chargers and Eagles this year, too.

Daniels is a local kid, from Hebron High School … just a stone’s throw away from The Star here in Frisco. He’s worth a look not only given the situation but maybe too due to his pedigree.

From NFL.com’s pre-draft scouting report: “Active, athletic offensive lineman offering room for development at guard or tackle. Daniels is an impactful down blocker with the quickness to handle zone-blocking duties.”

The site called him “tenacious,” which seems like a starting point, anyway.

Dallas is at 5-8 and plays at 3-10 Carolina on Sunday … among the things we discuss in the Fish Report here!
