Drake Maye’s OTAs performance lands him on impressive offseason list

NFL Analyst Warns New England Patriots About Wasting Drake Maye - Newsweek

You probably didn’t need another reason to be optimistic about Year 2 of the Drake Maye era, but, you know, a new one never hurts. Especially as we all sit around and wait for training camps to start, it’s never too early to find more reasons to let that optimism spiral out of control.

And if that new reason happens to be a Fantasy Football angle, so be it. Beggars can’t be choosers. So when Maye shows up on a list that also includes the words ‘stock’ and ‘skyrocket’ in close proximity, it’s always worth diving into. So let’s dive in!

The fantasy football world is extremely in on Drake Maye after OTA reports

“There’s a lot of change in New England this year, including a new head coach in Mike Vrabel and a new offensive coordinator in Josh McDaniels. It can be a lot for a young quarterback to absorb. But as Drake Maye heads into his second season, he told reporters from OTAs that he’s finding his stride in the new scheme … As with Young in Carolina, the Patriots made a concerted effort to get better in the offseason, whether it was bolstering the offensive line with rookie tackle Will Campbell or bringing in veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Maye showed flashes of considerable upside as a rookie, including rushing for 421 yards, which ranked in the top 10 among quarterbacks. That rushing ability should afford Maye a safer fantasy floor and the potential for an even higher ceiling.”

I’m not actually all that sure what larger point is being made here, but that’s fine with me. The gist of it, to my understanding, is that Drake Maye is going to be a star this year. Or, at least, better than last year. Or a Top-15 QB? Like I said, I don’t really get the point.

What’s important to take away from this is its optimism. We can sort out the details another time. For now, it’s vital we all understand that Drake Maye optimism is at an all-time high; it’s even permeated into random pieces of Fantasy Football advice. And nothing hypes me up for a season like hearing about how safe his fantasy floor is. The Patriots might actually be back.
