The New York Yankees enjoyed an incredible season in which they won 94 regular season games and went to the World Series.

They couldn’t quite win it all, but they came close and gave fans unforgettable memories.

Yes, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto did most of the heavy lifting, with the help of a solid pitching staff.

However, the 2024 Yanks got important contributions from rookies and young players such as Luis Gil and Austin Wells.

Those two will have a big chance to make Yankees history on Monday when the AL Rookie of the Year is revealed.

The Yankees have nine AL Rookie of the Year award winners in their rich history: Gil McDougald (1951), Bob Grim (1954), Tony Kubek (1957), Tom Tresh (1962), Stan Bahnsen (1958), Thurman Munson (1970), Dave Righetti (1981), Derek Jeter (1996) and Aaron Judge (2017).

Wells or Gil could become the 10th AL ROY in franchise history and the first since Judge did it seven years ago.

To do that, they will have to overcome Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser, the third and final finalist for the award.

All three men have a good chance, as neither finalist gained much separation from the pack.

Monday has the potential to be a historic day for the Yankees and a magical day for one of Gil or Wells.

The former became one of the top young starters in the junior circuit with a 3.50 ERA, 15 wins and 171 strikeouts.

The latter took a huge step forward defensively and contributed 13 homers and a .717 OPS from the catcher position.

Fans are already waiting for Monday night with high expectations and hope to celebrate with one of their young studs.
