The Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver room heading into 2025 is deep, talented, and also in flux.

With the team drafting Matthew Golden in the first round and returning key players like Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks, it’s been easy to focus on what’s new and next. But sometimes, a familiar name changes the conversation.

Romeo Doubs has been that guy this spring. The veteran wideout is entering a pivotal contract year and came into OTAs looking physically stronger, mentally sharper, and more locked in than ever before. Those watching practice have noticed.

So has head coach Matt LaFleur.

“He looks great out there. I don’t know if you guys can tell a difference in his physique. He does look like a specimen out there,” LaFleur told reporters. “He does a great job. He’s come in and he’s just worked. He’s played a lot of snaps for us and has had a lot of production. I’m excited for where he’s at.”

During a 2-minute drill on Tuesday, he caught a sideline first down and the game-winning 2-point conversion from Jordan Love. His connection with Love continues to be one of the most reliable parts of the offense.

What’s noticeable this year is the way Doubs is carrying himself.

There are no extracurriculars, just business. Whether it’s breaking down defensive backs in 1-on-1s or quietly putting in extra work during individual drills, Doubs is emphatically setting the tone and making a statement.

The Packers’ crowded wide receiver room could have made him expendable. The trade rumors still lurk in the shadows. Instead, he’s making himself essential.

This isn’t just a spike in summer buzz. Doubs has three years of good-not-great production, postseason reliability, and a growing leadership presence.

While the headlines often go to the likes of Reed, Watson, and now Golden, Doubs is putting together the kind of offseason that forces some mental reevaluation.

The coaches are clearly taking notice. His quarterback looks locked in. And if the performances continue into the preseason, the Packers may have a harder depth-chart decision to make than they expected.
