Dodgers’ Chris Taylor Breaks Silence With Thank You Message After Release, Joining Angels

Chris Taylor being linked to hated rival is a double-edged sword for Dodgers fans

Los Angeles Dodgers two-time World Series champion Chris Taylor has posted a thank you message on his personal Instagram account following his release from the Dodgers and subsequent signing with the crosstown rival Los Angeles Angels.

“I’m beyond grateful to have been a part of the Dodger family for the past 9 years,” Taylor wrote. “It was a hell of a run with plenty of peaks and valleys and I wouldn’t change a thing. I especially want to thank all of my coaches, teammates, and the Dodger fans. Playing for this team has been a dream come true and I have created friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.”

He concluded: “Looking forward to starting a new chapter in red across town.”

Taylor was acquired by the Dodgers in 2016 from the Seattle Mariners. Over 10 seasons with L.A., he recorded 790 hits, 108 home runs, 423 runs batted in and slashed .250/.330/.431 over 1,007 regular season games played.

He also appeared in 80 postseason games, hitting .247 with nine home runs, 26 RBIs and an OPS of .791.

Taylor played a key role in the 2017 postseason, winning co-NLCS MVP honors alongside Trea Turner. He also famously hit the walk-off home run in the 2021 Wild Card series against the St. Louis Cardinals, sending the Dodgers to the NLDS to face the San Francisco Giants. Taylor earned his first and only All-Star selection in 2021.

In addition to his play on the field, Chris and his wife, Mary, were incredible off the field for their work with the CT3 Foundation. They held their big event, the Polar Plunge, in both 2024 and 2025, the most recent one helping both the Friendship Foundation and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.

Taylor is now with the Angels, where he’s excited to stay home and be able to prove to himself that he can still play at a high level.

The Dodgers play the Angels from Aug. 11-13 at Angel Stadium which could be a potential reunion for the two sides, and an opportunity for the Dodgers players to say their proper goodbyes.
