Thanksgiving Day NFL games are always instant classics, and legendary sports announcer Jim Nantz thinks that this year is going to be on for the history books.

On a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, the Hall of Fame commentator talked about this year’s matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

“KC and Dallas, to put those two gigantic brands together on the most-watched day of the regular season in the NFL? It’s gonna set records,” Nantz said. “That’s not what I’m out for it to do—I just hope it’s a great football game. It will be a wonderful matchup to call on Thanksgiving. KC at Dallas—that’s the game we wanted.”

The Cowboys have been called “America’s Team” for decades now, but Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are trying to claim that title with the dynasty they have made over the pas several seasons.

They have won three Super Bowls in the last six seasons as a result of some star play from their veterans for Mahomes and Travis Kelce, along with some excellent coaching from Andy Reid.

As for the Cowboys, they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020 this past season, so it seems the door has opened a bit for the Chiefs to slide in and take the title of “America’s Team”.

Nantz thinks that their Week 13 matchup on Thanksgiving is going to set records. And with how devoted their two fanbases are, plus just how big the two teams are around the country, he could very well be right.
